Unified social assistance system and the occupational therapist insertion

Abstract Introduction Occupational therapy is the profession with more historical visibility related to health field. Within scope of public policy social assistance, its insertion started be officially foreseen from 2011, however action has been developed in beginning occupational therapists’ Brazil. Objective To present profile therapists inserted services and/or programs Unified Social Assistance System (SUAS) Minas Gerais (MG) state, Method Documentary research was carried out, using SUAS Census as a source information. Quantitative data municipalities per year, by equipment, services, and role between years 2012 2019 were mapped. The treated simple statistics, results organized into analytical categories, which part discussion results. Results Data found equipment for Basic Protection, Special at management level. A relevant number people disabilities stood out. Conclusion constitution therapy, recognition profession's specialization contexts, provision this professional expanded debate possibilities focus on protection. Other studies are suggested about professionals’ profile, well practices them, aiming understand their actions, application theoretical-practical knowledge contribution specificity context.
